Candace BertottiThe American Academy of Audiology Foundation’s first Improving Patient Care Through Innovation in Workplace Management Lecture was a great success at AudiologyNOW! Over 100 audiologists attended the presentation, Influencer: How to Create Change in Your Audiology Workplace, offered in two parts on Sat., March 31 by Candace Bertotti, MPA, PMP, a member of the VitalSmarts™ facilitator faculty. Those there expressed great enthusiasm for the engaging multimedia presentation, interactive format, and practical “take-aways” that were offered in the three hour session that was both empowering and motivational. The web seminar is currently available on-demand at eAudiology.org at no charge for members of the Academy; ABA Tier 1 credits and Academy CEUs are offered for this session that will be available for a limited time only.  Members must REGISTER and complete the seminar before the June 30 deadline.

Audiologists in all practice settings must frequently resolve challenging and persistent behavioral dilemmas in the workplace. These problems might range from patients who are resistant to new technology, to staff or students whose customer service skills “need improvement,” to a peer who regularly omits important information from patient records. Influencer:  How to Create Change in Your Audiology Workplace, delivered a powerful new science of influence that draws from more than five decades of the best social science research.  This interactive Tier One session provided practical tools and a coherent and portable model for changing behaviors, ultimately resulting in better outcomes for your patients.

“I found the information presented to be exceptional and applicable in many situations that audiologists encounter on a daily basis,” said Gail Whitelaw, PhD, an attendee at the session in Boston. “ In addition, the session was great fun and provided an opportunity for interaction. We were asked to work on a critical situation by table…and left with concrete suggestions, based on the model that was presented.  And the session was as entertaining as informative.”
