Hearing Healthcare Recruiters Supports SAA Chapter Challenge Awards

SAA leadership has just learned that Hearing Healthcare Recruiters (HHR) has made a five-year pledge to the SAA’s philanthropic partner, the AAA Foundation, to fund the Chapter Challenge Awards through 2019. This generous gift will allow the SAA to increase the amount and the number of grants that are made to university chapters who exhibit leadership in audiology advocacy, fundraising, philanthropy, and education. Thank you for your generosity, HHR!

A New Focus on Undergraduate Members

Undergraduate students may join National SAA as associate members. In the past, undergraduate needs were considered by a subdivision of the SAA Education Committee. New this year is a stand-alone, Undergraduate Committee. As the SAA continues to expand, the SAA Board felt it was important to have an individual committee to focus on our undergraduate members’ needs. Read more…

Get Involved in Community Outreach

The upcoming year presents us with a great opportunity to continue service project traditions and collaborate with organizations for chapters to participate in community outreach. Read more…

AAA Foundation and SAA Fundraiser: Celebrate National Philanthropy Day with the 15-15-15 Challenge!

We are once again challenging students to gather 15 supporters (students or faculty) to each donate $15 to the American Academy of Audiology Foundation (AAAF) on November 15. Money raised directly supports students through individual scholarships and local chapter grants. Last year, we raised $3,033...and every dollar supports student and chapter projects! Make this a fun event, take lots of pictures, challenge a faculty member to match your donations, and celebrate your philanthropic efforts together. Don’t forget that participating in 15-15-15 also earns Chapter Challenge points! Post pictures of your SAA chapter on our SAA Facebook page so we can brag about how fantastic you all are! For more information, contact Sarah Kate Fisher.

Advisors Corner

SAA Associate Members

Do you have undergrads in your speech and hearing program? If so, did you know that they are eligible to be SAA Associate Members? We encourage you to include undergrads in your chapter activities and encourage them to consider a graduate degree in Audiology! The SAA board now includes a committee specifically dedicated to undergraduate members. The committee is chaired by Lyndsey Spencer with SAAAC liaison Eileen Rall, AuD. Feel free to contact either of them with questions.

Chapter Advisors Community

The Chapter Advisors community has 81 members…that’s 81 people with new ideas and perspectives who would be wonderful resources as you start a new academic year. Post your questions, comments, concerns, or successful project ideas on the community and network with chapter advisors across the country.

SAA Chapter Information Packet

The SAA Board has prepared an excellent reference for local chapter leadership and advisors including important dates, explanations of chapter opportunities, and contact info to help you get the year off to a successful start. You will be able to utilize this guide to plan and budget from now through AudiologyNOW! Look for this packet coming soon.
