Public Relations Media Training Learning Lab
The American Academy of Audiology Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness of the field of audiology and the impactful work of audiologists. This includes partnering with the American Academy of Audiology to provide tools for audiologists to gain visibility within their communities. While the national Academy office is working on strategically obtaining national media coverage to support the Audiology Enterprise's efforts, the challenge is to take advantage of other opportunities to highlight audiologist contributions in local communities.
In the effort to support the national public awareness initiatives of the Academy, the Foundation sponsored five individuals to attend the Public Relations Media Training Learning Lab at AAA 2018 in Nashville. Presented by Vicki Bendure, President of Bendure Communications, the Public Relations Media Training session provided an overview of media basics. Attendees received valuable tips for interviewing with the media and learned how to best determine the reporter’s agenda, how to handle difficult questions, how to build proactive relationships with media, how to get ahead of media coverage, contain social media, and more.
