Cheers for Ears
On the first night of AudiologyNOW!, audiology students and professionals kicked off their week of fun in Phoenix by joining together for a night of networking, drinks, dancing, and arcade games! The 2016 annual Cheers for Ears event was held at Lucky Strike @ Gypsy Bar. The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) and the American Academy of Audiology Foundation (AAAF) definitely went all-out with this the theme: “Light Up Your Night!” and there were party favors galore featuring many exciting activities for attendees.
Cheers for Ears is an annual benefit for student initiatives funded through the AAAF and coordinated by the SAA. Funds raised from this event are 100% Earmarked for students in the form of student scholarships and research grants. In short, this benefit supports the future of the profession by providing students with the opportunity to explore their educational, research, and clinical interests.
This year, over 235 ear lovers attended the event and nearly $7,000 was raised to support students across the country. Those who attended had the opportunity to be entered into a raffle for one of several gift cards! We couldn’t have had such a successful event without the help of our student volunteers and our sponsors. Thank you to GN Resound, Starkey Hearing Technologies, Oticon, and Phonak, LLC for continuing to supporting student initiatives through events like Cheers for Ears!
Thank you to all who attended this year! We look forward to seeing everyone next year in Indianapolis!!!
